Wow.  Has it been that long already?

I sincerely apologize.

Though I doubt there are any lurkers out there just waiting for my next blog post.  If you’re out there, “Hi!”

So… it’s been a few months since I last posted.  And a lot of things have happened in my personal life, if not in my tri training life.  October was an incredibly busy month for me at work.  I often worked late nights and weekends.  Then came a nice week-long vacation at the beginning of November; much deserved, I might add.  Then of course came the holidays, and dozens of parties and things to attend and plan, and presents to buy and what-not.  And then I lost my job on December 1st.  Which of course was a bit of a bummer, but was probably the best for my personal sanity in the long-run.  Throughout the holidays I was too much of a slacker in my training regime to find anything worthwhile to post about.  And though I ate alot for the holidays, and then went on an all-you-can-eat cruise the second week of January, I managed not to gain any weight.

Okay, well that’s not exactly true, is it?  I gained 2 pounds over the holidays, and another 2 pounds on the cruise.  But by the second week back after vacation, I’d lost those 4 pounds.  So I am currently still hovering around my 25 pounds lost stage.

So what have I been up to since I lost my job?  Not a whole lot.  And again, all that laziness!  It’s so easy for laziness to creep up on you and pretty soon it’s been a whole week and you haven’t been to the gym once.  Additionally, I got a tattoo on my shoulder a few weeks ago and couldn’t wear a sports bra for a week and a half, so I took a little time off then.  BUT – I am officially back into my pre-holiday excitement about training.  And you know why?

Two things:

1) I got a job at The Running Room.  I’m selling shoes.  And running gear.  And Garmins.  And I want. it. all.

2) I’m officially registered for my first race of the season, the Cannon Falls Duathlon on April 30th.  Yes, it’s true that I’m going to be doing it as part of a team, so I’ll just be running, but it’s exciting nonetheless.

Did I mention I got a job at The Running Room??!!  I can’t say much – trade secrets and all – but if you haven’t been to a store where experts fit you into the proper running shoe, why are you reading my blog?  Go out there and get fitted!  I can’t even begin to tell you the difference it makes.  I’d be willing to bet that 90% of you buying your running shoes at a big box store are wearing the wrong kind of shoe, and that can only lead to injuries.  And did I mention all of the other cool things The Running Room has to offer??  Like reflective jackets, Body Glide, Fuel Belts, Garmins, socks (are you wearing cotton socks to run in?  Get thee to The Running Room!), pants and shirts.  Of course, it doesn’t hurt that I get a discount for working there.  So as soon as that tax refund comes back, I’ll make it through my wish list pretty quickly.

So, what can you expect from me over the next few months?

  • Workout updates
  • Race reports
  • Product reviews (did I mention that I’m working at The Running Room now???)
  • Inspiration & insightful commentary(right?)

I just ordered a few Bondi Bands so as soon as they arrive and I get a chance to use them on a run, I’ll be posting a review.
